2015 Tournament a success

Thank you to all of the people who came to compete or just to watch the 7th Annual Pétanque Tournament, which was held at Girard Park this past weekend.  We had competitors from as far away as France, Canada and Texas.  Local (sort-of) players Andrew Barron and Siva Nunna ended up as the Tournament Champions after an extremely exciting final match.  (I couldn't help thinking about watching golf, having to announce what was taking place in a hushed voice so as not to disturb the intense concentration during each and every throw of the ball.)  Andrew and Siva are no strangers to PetanqueLafayette - they visit us often when they drive up from Thibodeaux, where they normally play with other members of the Swamp Pétanque club.  Please follow us on facebook for more information about when we will be on the courts.  No equipment is necessary, as we bring all of that.  Just come with an appetite for fun and the desire to meet new friends and learn some Pétanque.  (We'll throw in some free French lessons along with free Pétanque lessons.)

Pictured here are Siva Nunna and Andrew Barron wit htheir First Place awards. Special thaanks go to Christophe PIlut (l) and Mike LeBlanc (1st from right) who organize the tournament every year.)
